The match that decided the tournament. Spain dominated for long spells against a resolute Argentina and Emiliano Martínez, who set a men’s World Cup final record with ten saves. Argentina were reduced to ten men when Enzo Fernández was sent off for a second yellow card in second-half stoppage time, and Spain finally broke through 39 seconds into the second period of extra time — Nico Williams heading a cross into the path of substitute Ferran Torres, who fired home the winner.
